This four-day course brings to life the lead selling book on Business Architecture "Business Architecture: A Practical Guide" and the tools and techniques from the Open Group's TOGAF® framework in an informative, energetic and pragmatic way.  Through the cumulative experience of our trainers and business colleagues we bring a fresh perspective to the ideas of architecture and specifically enterprise architecture.  It doesn't try to reinvent the idea of business architecture or introduce new notations but instead it takes tried and tested methods, techniques, tools and the wealth of experience from practitioners from many fields and presents this myriad of information in an informative and practical way.

The course doesn't sell itself as perfection, very little things are.  It attempts to show how an enterprise architecture practice can be woven into the very fabric of an organisation and that it should not be discipline executed in isolation of other parts of the organisation.

At the end of this course you should be able to

  • define what is enterprise architecture
  • identify the relationship between enterprise architecture and its stakeholders and the disciplines related to it
  • demonstrate how your organisation can work with the TOGAF® ADM, how to customise it and to use ir practically
  • understand the TOGAF® domains and how they relate to the roles of solution and technical architecture
  • specify the core components (building blocks) of the four TOGAF® domains
  • how to work with building blocks (architecture and solution building blocks)
  • identify architecture deliverables for technical/solution architects and how they relate to the TOGAF® framework deliverables
  • identify the levels within the organisation at which enterprise architecture can be applied and the types or deliverables at those levels
  • discuss the role of governance and how to apply it
  • highlight the practical aspects of establishing a credible enterprise architecture practice, including the critical success factors and the competencies required of a enterprise architect
  • identify the resources (materials tools and methods) that exist to, inform, enrich and enable the business architecture capability.

This course is suitable as a study guide for the TOGAF® levels 1 and 2  Exams but you may need to suppliment it with further study
